What to Expect

Starting therapy doesn’t have to feel overwhelming

If you’ve never been to therapy before, you’re not alone. It’s normal to feel unsure about what to expect or how it works. This page will walk you through the basics so you can feel more confident before getting started.

The First Session

Your first session is about connection and clarity

Our first session is a space for us to get to know each other. You’ll be invited to share what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping to work on, and any goals you have in mind.

We’ll talk about what therapy might look like moving forward, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. The goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable and supported.

Working Together

What sessions are like

Sessions are anywhere from 50 - 55 minutes long and take place over secure video. Each session is shaped around your needs and goals. Some days you might want to explore past experiences, and other times you might focus on what’s happening right now. Therapy is collaborative. I’ll bring structure, tools, and clinical insight, but you set the pace. Together, we’ll track your progress and adjust as needed.

Goals and Progress

We’ll work on goals that are clear, realistic, and meaningful

Early in our work together, we’ll clarify what you’d like to get out of therapy. These goals might shift over time, and that’s okay. Whether you're looking for insight, emotional relief, or practical coping tools, we’ll check in regularly to make sure our work is supporting the progress you want to see.
